This is the second collectible beer mug from the Discover America special series. The series consists of three models. The other two have numbers #CS107 and #138, issued in 1990 and 1992, respectively. The development of this series was commissioned by the American brewing company Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser). The Brazilian ceramic products factory Ceramarte became the contractor of the order. Source of information at the link:

The release of this series became part of the commemorative events dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the first expedition of Christopher Columbus to the shores of the new continent. Columbus set out on this historic expedition in 1492. His flotilla consisted of three sailing ships named Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Three beer mugs from this series are dedicated to each of these ships.

The Pinta is a caravel that was part of Christopher Columbus' first expedition in 1492. It was from this ship that sailor Rodrigo de Triana was the first to see the shores of the New World (San Salvador Island) on October 12, 1492. It was a caravel with a straight sailing armament on the first two masts and an oblique one on the mizzen. The crew consisted of about 26-30 people. The captain is legendary Martin Alonso Pinson. The Pinta caravel was considered the fastest ship in the Christopher Columbus flotilla, which also included the Santa Maria and the Nina. The displacement of the Pinta was about 60-75 tons. "Pinta" (Spanish Pinta — "spotted" or "painted") is a nickname. The ship's real name has not been preserved. The Pinta was the first of Columbus' expedition to return to Europe, reaching the shores of Spain (the port of Bayona) in February 1493. Today, in the Spanish city of Palos de la Frontera, there is a full-size replica of the ship, available to the public.
