The double-headed eagle is a symbol of the Byzantine Empire and of the Russian Empire. Here, the double-headed eagle crest is flanked by two lions. One holds a sword and the other holds a scepter. The stein bears the name, Dr. Merkel Atelier of Baden-Wurttemburg.
