Reinhold Hanke founded its ceramic factory in 1868 in the city of her in Westervald (central Germany). According to many, he became a pioneer in the style of "historism", which is associated with the Western ceramic mugs and jug today. After Khanke's death in 1886, the company was ruled by his wife until 1901, and then headed by the son of Hannah, August, who led the production to his death in 1938, after which the production actually ceased.
