The "Cobalt Crystal" beer mug is equipped with a relief tin lid "Knight on vacation". The mug has a capacity of 0.5 liters and a height of 16 cm. The mug dates back to the period of 1960-1970.
The crystal part of the mug was made at the famous Bavarian glass factory Nachtmann, which has a history of almost 200 years. The company was founded in 1834 by Michael Nachtmann.
The massive tin lid is decorated with a relief scene typical of German engravings from the 16th century. Here, we see a Renaissance warrior relaxing in a monastery's beer cellar. He is enjoying the beer brewed by the monks. The image is accompanied by an inscription in the old Bavarian dialect: "Halt Maß u Ziel, trink nie zuviel." Translated, the phrase means: "Keep a measure and a goal, never drink too much." This is a valuable piece of advice. Especially for those in the service. In fact, we see an example of standard German humor.
