The collectible German beer mug was made at the famous Marzi & Remi factory in the period 1958-1965. The mug is decorated with a drawing from the story group "Rural dances". This story group was formed as an artistic decoration in the German lands during the 16th century. At that time, no one even thought of using these subjects to decorate facades or friezes of beer mugs. This artistic line became widespread in the German lands due to the fact that metal engravers in the early 1520s received the technology of mass replication of images on paper or cheap fabric.
As a result, cheaper drawings began to be put up for sale during local traditional fairs. Farmers were most fascinated by plots involving the same characters as them.
The most famous and recognized founder of the genre of artistic depiction of "peasant dance scenes" was the German Renaissance artist Hans Sebald Beham (1500-1550). He worked in the technique of engraving. Thanks to her, the artist's works became widespread and accessible even to peasants. Engravings by Hans Sebald Beham about the life and holidays of peasants were in demand at seasonal fairs. Over time, scenes from engravings by Hans Sebald Beham depicting the life and holidays of peasants became part of the cultural heritage of the German lands. This was especially evident in the second half of the 19th century. All the major pottery manufactories of that time used scenes from the peasant life of Hans Sebald Beham to decorate their products. The Marzi & Remi manufactory was one of the most active adherents of the plots of farm life.
Nevertheless, by 1958, Marzi & Remy had managed to outlast all its main competitors from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and began to rethink its successful 100-year-old past.

There are inscriptions in German on both sides of the mug. On the right side is a joking German saying, which translates to: "There is truth in wine, power in beer, and bacilli (microbes) in water."
To the left of the hilt we see: "Es lehret uns die Wissenschaft wie Durst ist gut zu stillen". The literal translation into Russian is: "Science teaches us how to quench our thirst well." This is an ironic phrase typical of the traditional German drinking culture. The point is that even serious science "approves" of the thirst quenching process (meaning beer), turning the usual consumption of a drink into a "scientifically sound" and useful thing.
This factor makes it possible to understand the true meaning of the artistic design of this mug. Despite the simplicity of the plot of the drawing, it shows the aligory of a meeting between a girl from the past and a guy with a guitar from the present.
