Stein from the King-Werk factory "The Knight with a glass in the Blue Castle"

King Werk - mold 1000

From the collection of Paulo Vik Falcon

Stein from the King-Werk factory "The Knight with a glass in the Blue Castle".

Original King German Beer Stein With Ceramic Lid. Drinking Knight in Blue Castle. It shows a relaxing knight with his mug raised and two men toasting with him in front of a castle tower. Hand painted with cobalt blue ceramic background and bright colors. Reads "Auf's Wohl mit gefulltem Pokale" on the front meaning "To good health with filled cup". On the back it reads "Ob Rittersmann, ob Lanzenknecht, Ein jeder gern sein Schoppen stecht" meaning "Whether knight or soldier, each gladly downs his portion of beer". And lastly encircling the bottom reads "Füllen u. leeren Nimmer entbehren" meaning "Filled and emptied. Never deprived".
All three phrases are considered old German toasts, which are pronounced by military personnel during the feast.
