Stein "Landsknecht with Cannon".
This beer mug is made at the Marzi & Remi manufactory in a complex technique of engraving on porcelain. On the body of the mug is depicted Landsknecht with the saying: "Ob Ritter, ob Knapp ob Adelsmann
ein jeder frühlich zechen kann!". Translated from German, this means "Whether knight, footman or nobleman,
each one of them can drink happily!". Landsknecht is a serf, which his master used for military purposes. These soldiers of fortune often moved from one landowner to another, and in some ways were the equivalent of modern-day mercenaries, with the important difference that they could not choose their own employer.
