This porcelain, Cold War stein, with a naked lady lithophane, is named simply to First Sergeant, E Company, 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Augsburg, Germany 1956. The right side scene shows a pair of airborne wings and a bird’s head; the left side scene is the unit crest. The 511th was part of the 11th Airborne Division and was sent to Augsburg Germany in 1956 as part of Operation Gyroscope, a new unit rotation system where entire Divisons were sent to new assignments instead of sending individual soldiers.
