Germany, art nouveau Beerstein in perfect condition, transfer print with hand painted highlights in white enamel paint, depicting a waitress carrying a tablet with three small, and a gentleman drinking from a big stein. Beneath the ironic saying: "I kon koane 3 Quartl seg'n - anstatt a' Mass - da wer' I granti - mit solchene Spass" in german dialect, meaning " I can't stand 3 small (1/4 L) instead one big (1L) beer, and get angry, if treated this way"
Two cartouches, one with an offering a the other with a denying gesture. 1/2 L capacity mark on side, artist monogram "CM 82", no bottom stamp. On internet several same steins appear with B.T.M. ink stamps, therefore it's suggested to be also produced by Brüder Thannhauser München.
Domed pewter lid with gloverleaf on top, oval thumb-lift, five-pin open hinge.
