This miniature mug was made in 1887 by the Villeroy & Boch (V&B) factory. In the V&B catalog, this mug is listed under the number 1801. Its name in the catalog is "Scrollwork with Masks" (Scrollwork pattern with masks).
The pattern is applied using a delicate lace-like relief technique. The lid is inlaid with a ceramic insert decorated with a relief pattern.
The mug has a capacity of 1/4 liter. This mug was designed as a companion to the larger 3-liter beer jug with catalog number 1782.
