This mug was made to order by the famous German brewery HofbrÀuhaus (HB).
The order was fulfilled by the Walter Merkelbach (WM) manufactory. This ceramic manufacturing company was founded in 1876 by R. Walter Merkelbach (born 22.09.1848, died 27.09.1894). The manufactory is still in operation today. Famous German breweries continue the long-standing tradition of ordering mugs from WM as souvenirs for their beer lovers.
This mug was made after 1990, when Germany was unified. This is indicated by the stamp "MADE IN GERMANY" on the bottom of the mug, which means "Made in Germany." Before 1990, the stamp contained the word "Western" or "Westliche" in German, which meant "West Germany."
