Merkelback & Wick made steins 1872-1921, this "Gnome in Hops Vines" stein is about 7-3/4" tall, it has a mold #234A under the handle, no capacity mark or Germany. In 1887 it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports. This three ring open pewter hinge was used around 1875-1895. This stein may have been made 1875-1886.
