Merkelbach & Wick - mold 1701

Merkelbach & Wick made beer steins 1879-1921. This stein is about 8" tall and has a 1L capacity mark, and a M&W logo on the base. 1887 in Germany it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports. Possibly this stein was made 1879-1886. This stein is a generic 1L M&W stein, but the Beer Stein Library has it as #1701 various subjects. The original painting was painted by Friedrich August Kaulbach 1878.
