A character stein, shaped as a monk, produced by Merkelbach & Wick, circa 1880~1900.
Circa 0.4 liter capacity. No mold number visible, but this model is known to be mold number 270. M&W made several different character steins with this same mold number, in different sizes, materials and finishes. Therefore the number 270 is perhaps not a mold number, but more a general 'series'-number.
