Hofbräuhaus HB 1L early masskrug stein 1880s # 4277

From the collection of J JAW

Hofbräuhaus HB 1L masskrug stein # 4277. The crudely hand-inscribed HB logo is that of the type used from the late 1870s to 1880s, as is the flat lid with only the HB logo within a slightly raised circle (no crown or Hofbräuhaus text on such early examples). Acorn-shaped thumb-lift.
A similar example (HB # 1810) can be found on this site at [link]
The inside of the lid is stamped ‘L. MORY. MÜNCHEN. PRUCKNERSNACHF.’, which is a very early maker mark from this company, so this stein is likely to have been in use in the Hofbräuhaus from 1889 or thereabout.
