Hanke 1268 - Germans and Romans

Reinhold Hanke - mold 1268

From the collection of Randy Satterfield

The central scene was taken from a Heinrich Schlitt mural. The same design was used on Girmsceid mold 842, see [link]

“Italia’s Wein so süss u. fein brach doch der Römer morsch Gebein.
Im Bier jedoch u. Rettigsaft steckt ewig junge deutsche Kraft.”
(Italy’s wine so sweet and fine broke the Romans brittle bones.
However, beer and radish juice forever maintain young German strength.) (TBSL)
