Collectible 3D beer mug "Community Brewery". The capacity of the mug is 1 liter, the height is 23 cm. This model is part of the exclusive WW Team - Bierkrüge & Geschenke GmbH series dedicated to German craft houses. The mug was made in the early 2000s in a limited edition of 9,000 copies. This particular mug was assigned the individual number 418. There is no other one with this number.
The mug is made in the form of a communal Bavarian brewery of the early 19th century.
In the 19th century, home brewing in Germany shifted from medieval traditions to industrial standards. The brewing format depended on the region: private farming dominated in the north, while community breweries dominated in Bavaria and Franconia. It was a unique format, especially popular in Bavaria. Residents of the city who have the right to cook used a common building with professional equipment. Each member of the community brought their own malt and hops, and the process was supervised by a community foreman (Braumeister).
The houses that were used for community breweries were designed in a special way. At the base of the house there was a deep and large cellar for storing brewed beer at a stable low temperature. Before the advent of refrigerating machines (invented by Carl von Linde in the 1870s), beer was allowed to brew only during the cold season — from September 29 (St. Michael's Day) to April 23 (St. George's Day). During this period, cooking was carried out in small volumes, but it was repeated day after day, providing the living and other facilities of this house with warmth. At the same time, brewed beer was stored in the cellar of the house. There was also a tavern in the same building, which brought additional income. Often, the living quarters of such houses could be used as hotels. We can see all this by looking at this 3D mug.
