This antique beer mug could have been made between 1876 and 1886 at the renowned Reinhold Hanke ceramic factory. The mug has a capacity of 0.5 liters and is approximately 17 cm tall.
The artistic design on the mug's surface is based on a spicy Tyrolean theme.
The main image depicts a man with a guitar, trying to entertain two women at once. The scene takes place in a room where there are no other people besides the three of them.
The women's manner makes it clear that they are the mistresses of the room, not the local guitar-playing ladies' man. However, the guitar-playing lover also feels confident, knowing that the women's husbands are away on a planned hunting trip in the mountains.
An important detail: Above the table, there is a painting depicting a mountain landscape in the upper reaches of one of the Alpine gorges in Tyrol, where their fathers, brothers, and now husbands' hunting grounds are located.
To the left of the handle of the mug there is an inscription "Ein heitrer Sinn", which is translated from German as "A cheerful mood". This established in Tyrol phrase has a hidden meaning, which is described by the phrase "... der beste Gewinn" (the best victory / acquisition). To the right of the handle we see exactly this continuation.
The morality of the plot of the mug drawing is as follows: "While the husbands are in the mountains on a hunting trip, a cheerful guy with a guitar will take care of their wives." It is quite logical that every beer mug with such humor, finding itself in the hands of a drunken jealous man, was instantly broken. To this day, only a few of these mugs have survived, miraculously escaping this fate.
