Stein Marzi & Remy #3083 "Tyrolean Couple".
The collectible German beer mug was made at the famous Marzi & Remy factory in the period 1958-1965. The mug is decorated with a drawing from the story group "Tyrolean Couple".
For the first time, the story "Tyrolean Couple" in this version was used at the Marzi & Remy factory during the development of mold number 89. After that, the designers of the Marzi & Remy factory repeatedly used it in molds numbered 202, 232, 1764, 2018, 2985 and 3083. In my case, there is a mug that has become a reproduction of the mold number 3083.
To the left of the handle there is an inscription in German: "ES LEHRET UNS DIE WISSENSCHAFT WIE DURST IST GUT ZU STILLEN" (Science teaches us how to quench thirst competently). To the right of the hilt is the second part of this German proverb: "IM WEIN LIEGT WAHR-HEIT IM BIER DIE KRAFT IM WASSER DIE BAZILLEN" (In wine there is truth, in beer there is strength, in water there are bacilli).
An earlier version of this mug had an inscription with a different content: "Je böser das Weib, desto schöner die Kneip", which can be translated as: "The meaner the wife, the nicer the pub." The second part of the text read: "Je schöner die Kneip, desto böser furs Weib" (The better the pub, the worse for the wife). This is a popular German saying that was often applied to beer dishes as a humorous comment on men's leisure time.
