The lid of this stein is a bell. If you turn the little knob on the top of the lid the bell rings.
No factory markings found, but a user of this website recognised it as a stein by Simon Peter Gerz, model 864 [link] .
Verse on the front panel: "Ein guter Trunk ist jedem recht dem Fürsten, Bürger und dem Knecht."
All metal parts have at some time been painted over in gold color. I do not know if that was original to this stein or if it was added at a later date. I tend to think the first. Any comments welcome.
