Two-tone saltglazed Historismus stein

Uit de verzameling van Paul Van Eck

A beer stein, made in the historismus style, dating to circa 1860~1890.
What's nice about this example is that it is not just in the usual blue color, but part of the stein is also in a manganese color.
The capacity of this stein is circa 1/3 liter, although no capacity mark is applied.

The front of the stein shows the face of a man, reminiscent of so-called bellarmine or "bearded man" jugs.

I have yet to find out which producer made this beer stein.

This stein is clearly from the 1860s. The fitting is typical of the period, and there's no volume marking. Few factories produced ceramic mugs at that time, especially in the historicist style. I'm 99% sure this is an early work by Reinhold Hanke. The pattern is very typical of this factory, as are the shades of the enamel and the type of handle (although this handle isn't in the catalog).
