Excerpt from book „Das Münchnerkindl…eine Wappenfigur geht eigene Wege“, Münchner Stadtmuseum, 1999, Page 120, figure 246-an advertisement of the firm Eduard Rau
The manufacturer of this 1 liter, 15th German Federal Shooting Competition, dated 8 Juli 1906, is unknown . The design was by the unknown artist with the initials "FM". The central scene image appears to be a court jester who is carrying a shooting target with the Frauenkirche steeples in the background.
The saying on the stein reads "Probe-Schiessen". The side scenes are Bavarian dialect with right side reading "Schiass'n macht Jedem a' sackrische Freud," The left side scene reads "Triffst ebbas, freut's Di, Triffst nix, freuts d' Leut" which I translate to: Practice Shooting - Shooting makes everyone crazy-hit something you're happy, hit nothing and the people are happy.
The pewter lid has an image that appears to be the crucifixion of Christ and around the lid is the inscription "15. Deutsches Bundes Schiessen Muenchen 1906". Inside the lid it is stamped "Kuecheneinrichtung Ed Rau Muenchen"
