Student Fox

Hauber & Reuther - modelnr. 54

Uit de verzameling van Mike Finn

Early Freising factory, pre-Hauber & Reuther, narrow-bodied character stein. Designed by Maximilian Borho. Made by Schön & Hauber Sept 1,1876 to August 6th,1878. They used a 4 or 5mm size mold number. The "L" in the capacity mark does not have a serif (horizontal top line) until 1882 when it became Hauber & Ruther. It's about 7-1/2" tall. This handle with a loop at each end was only used in the 1876 through the 1878 production periods. Many of the early character steins did not have a thumb lift. Albert Hauber was phasing out all the narrow-bodied character steins. He was designing more popular robust bodied steins more like Merkelbach & Wick's. All the old narrow-bodied characters were retired except #54, it was eventually replaced with robust Student Fox #54, see the last two pictures.
