The glass beer mug has a capacity of 0.5 liters. This is indicated by the corresponding engraving. The mug is made by blowing glass into a mold. The decoration on the glass surface is made using the technique of hand engraving with a rotating abrasive.
This glass mug was made in 1893 by order of the organizers of one of the gymnastic tournaments, which were popular in Germany in those years.
A gift inscription is engraved on the edge of the lid, which translates to: "To Arthur Schlegel as a souvenir from a group of gymnastics instructors. December 1893". The copper insert in the tin frame of the lid is completed in the form of a relief medallion depicting the profile of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, 1778-1852). He went down in history as the founding father of modern gymnastics (Turnvater Jahn). His ideas formed the basis of German gymnastics clubs.
As part of his sports clubs, Father Yang founded the 4F movement. This formula meant "Frisch, Fromm, Froehlich, Frei", which translates as "Fresh (in body and soul), God-fearing, happy, free." These four words are applied to the surface of the copper insert on four sides around the profile of Friedrich Jan.
