Stein Villeroy & Boch #1932 "Bosom friends will always find a reason to drink".
This vintage 0.5 liter beer mug was made in 1898 at the legendary Villeroy & Boch factory.
In the Villeroy & Boch product catalog, the mold of this mug is listed under the number 1932. She was given the name "Cavaliers drink." Although, in my opinion, the mug should be called "Bosom friends will always find a reason to drink." The mug is made using a sophisticated technique of engraving on raw ceramics. The design of the mug was created by the famous artist Christian Warth at the end of the 19th century. Christian Warth was born on April 21, 1836 in Birkenfeld. In early 1890, he suffered a severe stroke and died on March 28, 1890. Christian Warth's products were a great commercial success. Many products were manufactured at Villeroy & Boch factories at least until 1906.
This mug was made in 1898, although its design was developed by Christian Warth long before 1890.
On the right side of the mug there is an inscription in German: "Ein Glas beim Freund". It translates as "A glass with a friend." To the left of the handle there is a continuation of the phrase: "ist gut gemeint". Translated, it means "well-intentioned." Together, these two phrases represent an old and popular German toast: "A glass with a friend — with the best of intentions!"
