These steins are identical and likely were awards given to a husbnd and wife. The front top says "Heilbronn, Officers Mixed League. In the middle is a transfer image of the Heilbronn coat of arms. The front bottome says "2nd place team, Germany, 63 - 64". Heilbronn is located in northern Baden-Wurtemburg. The U. S. Army had several installations there and likely the husband was an officer serving in one of them. While this isn't a standard Cold War stein it's relaed and was won while being stationed in Germany during the Cold War. This is a matched pari of steins. I currently have half a dozen other bowling/Cold War steins, all of them have various bowling finials on the lid but this is the first time I've seen these. Alonlg with the Bavarian lion thumblift that's quite a bit of metal on this stein, making it quite top heavy. If they were used for drinking it's a miracle they survived. Likely they stood on a shelf.
