Merkelbach & Wick - Modell Nr. 244

M&W made steins 1872-1921, this "Floral Scrollwork with Saying" is about 7-1/8" to the top of the lid. It has a round M&W logo on the base, 1/2L capacity mark and mold #244G under the handle. But no Germany, in 1887 it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports. This stein may have been made 1872-1886.

Mäßiges Trinken, Lieder singen, half von je zu guten Dingen.
(Drinking moderately, singing songs, have always brought good things.)
