One of my most beloved steins.
I have a second one which is in pieces glued back together.
3 Liter etched with figural lid (hops bud)
Scene depicts Cooper (barrel maker) in cellar with stein in either hand.
His left hand raised in toast :
“Vom Durst Dich niemals quälen lass,
im Keller liegt viel kühles Nass.”
(Never let thirst torture you,
in the cellar lies much cool elixir.)
I don't completely agree that he should be referred to as a Cooper so much as a Kellermeister in that he clearly has the cellar keys on his belt.
