fishy jug

mold 301

From the collection of Paul Van Eck

A blue/gray stoneware pouring jug from the westerwald area with a not-so-common design of a fish (probably a carp) on the body.

The stein has a pewter lid and it dates to circa 1890-1910. The base is marked with an incised number 301, but there is no factory marking.
