musical box inside

Merkelbach & Wick

From the collection of Paul Van Eck

This stein has a music box in it's recessed base.
The scene is of the Munich child, and the thumbrest is shaped as the Frauenkirche in Munich.
On the base it is marked Josef M. Mayer (more info on: [link]
No mold number or maker's mark. A fellow collector recognises the handle of one by Merkelbach & Wick. This agrees with the base marking "gesetzlich geschutzt", which is also often found on M&W steins, so we can quite safely assume that indeed Merkelbach & Wick produced this stein.

Going by the handle I would suggest that this stein was made by Merkelbach & Wick.
