The Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company is associated with the image of the bald eagle (The Majestic Eagle) by more than 150 years of corporate history, in which this bird is the main symbol of the brand's identity.
Communication is based on several key aspects:
1. The official company logo (A & Eagle).
The image of the eagle formed the basis of the company's trademark back in 1872. The famous logo is a capital letter "A" (symbolizing the surname of founder Eberhard Anheuser), through which a bald eagle soars rapidly. The logo was officially registered as a trademark in 1877 and still remains the unchanged core of the company's identity. In 2022, it was updated, painting it in the golden color of beer and turning the eagle to the right, which symbolizes a look into the future.
2. A tribute to the founder.
An intra—family corporate legend says that the letter "A" on the emblem represents Anheuser, and the soaring eagle represents his son-in-law and partner Adolphus Bush. Relatives and successors claimed that the eagle symbolized "Adolphus Bush, whose vision knew no horizons." Under his leadership, a small brewery from St. Louis turned into the largest beer empire that spanned the entire world.
3. American patriotism and marketing.
The bald eagle has been a national symbol of the United States since 1782. Because the Anheuser-Busch brewing company has always positioned its key beers (especially Budweiser) As the main "American beer," using such a powerful patriotic symbol helped build a strong bond with local consumers. The eagle in their advertisements conveyed the values of freedom, strength, nobility and high quality.
4. Collectible series of beer tableware.
It is precisely because of the central role of the eagle in the history of the brand that the company has regularly produced mugs, glasses and steins with his image for decades. The Majestic Eagle mug from 2002 is a direct continuation of this tradition, created for collectors of Anheuser-Busch branded paraphernalia.
