A stoneware beer stein, probably made in the westerwald area in Germany.
This stein has a pewter calibration peg, marked with the capital letter 'B', indicating it was calibrated in 1821 in Belgium. The stein will have been produced in that year too, most likely, which would fit with the overall style and decoration of it.
Sadly it no longer has its original lid, and it has some hairline cracks. Nevertheless a nice and pretty rare calibrated stein.
