An old German beer mug under the author's name "Floral design in art nouveau style". The height of the mug is 13 cm. To indicate the size of the mug's capacity, a 3/10 label was applied to its side. That's about 0.33 liters.
The mug was made in 1895 in Germany at the then world-famous Villeroy & Boch factory. In the catalog of Villeroy & Boch products from the end of the 19th century, the mold model of this mug has the number 2099. This mug was made complete with a 4.4 liter jug.
The mug is decorated
with a jugendstil pattern. This is the German name for the art nouveau style, popular in Germany and Austria-Hungary in the 1890s and 1910s. The style is characterized by the rejection of symmetry in favor of smooth natural lines, floral ornaments, flowing shapes, images of curls and fabulous motifs.
The decoration is applied to the surface of the product in the technique of hand-engraved ceramics. This is the most time-consuming type of artistic product processing. In turn, this seriously affects the collector's value of the product.
