Curly collectible beer mug made of porcelain in the shape of the head of the "iron Chancellor" of Germany Otto von Bismarck. The mug is a reproduction of an older well-known model, which after 1886 was specially designed for the porcelain factory Schierholz & Sohn (founded in 1816) by the most famous sculptor in Germany at that time, Edmund Haase (1850-1917 years of life). The model of the mug in the shape of Bismarck's head in a helmet became one of a series of similar products in the form of persons from among the chancellors and emperors of Germany, who ruled since the second half of the 19th century. Edmund Haase became the author of the design of the entire series commissioned by Schierholz & Sohn
. It is important to note that Haase was a favorite porcelain sculptor of the Bavarian Royal Court.
The model of the mug in the form of the head of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck in the Schierholz & Sohn product catalog has the number 15. Schierholz & Sohn had a total of 115 models before 1901. It turns out that this one was among the first.
Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) was known as the "iron Chancellor" and, admittedly, played a key role in uniting the German states under one ruler (Wilhelm I) and turning Germany into a great European power.
After World War II, many well-known manufacturers of porcelain beer mugs, including Rastal, R.P.M. and others, produced copies of this model with a capacity of 0.5 liters, mostly full-color, but also in honey tones. All these items have long been collector's rarities. It is almost impossible to find them on the free market, not to mention the original products, so even reproductions today have a high cost. Originals have long been a museum rarity, costing from 10 thousand dollars and above.
Our mug was made in 2008 as an absolute replica of the original model by Edmund Haase at the Porzellanmanufaktur Neundorf porcelain factory (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The company has been operating since the 1980s.
