Early to mid 19th C. blown glass stein

From the collection of Paul Van Eck

This is a nice example of a somewhat earlier glass beer stein. It dates to probably the 1820's to 1840's.
The glass is still blown, but it was blown into a 3-part mold. This technique was in use until circa the 1840's, after which most producers changed their production method into the 'pressed glass' technique.

In this glass stein we can still see (and feel) the 3 vertical 'welds', where the 3 mold-parts were joined.
