Pouring jug "DEMI"

From the collection of Paul Van Eck

"DEMI" indicates it holds 1/2 Kan (old Dutch measure)

Lead peg just below the top rim indicates the calibrated fill level.

Unidentified pewterer's mark of a probably Dutch or Flemish pewterer.

A mid-1800's pouring jug, measuring 1/2 Kan ('DEMI'), which is about 400 milliliters.
This type of jug is only found in the Low Countries (now Belgium & The Netherlands). Production centre was probably the westerwald area in Germany.

A lead peg in the side of the body indicates to what level the jug was to be filled to be officially a 1/2 Kan.

The inside of the pewter lid has remains of a pewterer's mark. I am until now not able to identify the pewterer.
