Screw-on top.

Inner lid in place.

Scew-on top and inner lid removed.

Does it say "St. Limm"..?

A large snuff tobacco jar, made in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
Complete with the pewter screw-top and the inner lid.

The base is marked with a letter D and the words "St. Limm" or "St. Liemm".. it is difficult to decypher.

This type of stoneware tobacco jars is believed to have been produced in/around the French city of Beauvais, about an hours drive noth of Paris.
