This stein dates to circa 1830~1850.
It was made in the westerwald area, specifically for export to the Low Contries (Belgium/the Netherlands).
The front panel is impressed with "1/2 NEDKAN". A peg on the side indicates to what level it should be filled to officially hold 1/2 NEDKAN.
The handle features a lead calibration mark. This calibration mark, shaped like two crossed keys, corresponds to the Leiden coat of arms, indicating that this 'measure' stein was calibrated in that city.
