Beer collectible mug from the Budweiser Archives Series, dedicated to the history of Budweiser beer advertising. This series consists of four mugs. In the Anheuser-Busch catalog, their molds are numbered CS169, CS190, CS222 and CS252. This mug is the first in a series of four Budweiser Archives mugs.
The mug was released in 1992 and it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago (Columbian Exposition).
The 1893 Trade Show marked a turning point, showcasing the industrial might of cities such as Chicago and St. Louis and showcasing the burgeoning American brewing industry, where Anheuser-Busch was at the forefront of innovation and competition.
Anheuser-Busch actively participated in the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, demonstrating innovations in brewing and fiercely competing with competitors such as Pabst, and even winning gold medals amid disagreements over judging. The Anheuser-Busch exhibition was dedicated to modern brewing at that time, including grain additives and pasteurization, attracting the attention of brewers and demonstrating the possibilities of brewing in the "Golden Age". Anheuser-Busch demonstrated new brewing technologies, including grain additives (such as corn and barley malt) and pasteurization, which were relevant at the time.
A serious rivalry developed at the exhibition between Anheuser-Busch from St. Louis and Pabst from Milwaukee. Moreover, both breweries competed for the title of "best beer". Anheuser-Busch was initially the leader in the number of gold medals, but the judging process was controversial due to accusations of technical errors that affected the final results, although Anheuser-Busch did win many awards.
