S.P. Gerz #1961 "Farewell Scene".
You can watch a video about this mug at the link: [link]
This large 2-liter mug was made at the S.P. Gerz factory between 1895 and 1905. The mug is decorated with artistic reliefs. The design of the mug's mold was created by the artist Rudy Dekker. His graphic signature, a monogram of the letters R and D, is engraved on the mug. This makes the mug more unique.
On the outer surface of the bottom, in addition to the factory's stamp, you can see a set of numbers: 1961. This is the number of the mug's mold in the S.P. Gerz manufactory catalog. In this catalog, the mug is presented under the name "Farewell Scene."
On the left side of the mug, there is a scroll with an inscription in old German. Translated from German, the inscription reads as follows:
"Three riders ride towards the gate.
Ade!
The lovely Fairy looks out the window.
Ade!
Three knights ride out of the gate.
Farewell!"
A beautiful lover looked out of the window.
Farewell!".
The text is taken from the German old song "Drei Ritter am Tore" ("Three Knights at the Gate"), written in 1822 by Wilhelm Müller and set to music in 1826 by Franz Schubert.
