Circling the bas is "Spangdahlem Air Base Germany 1953". On the left side is an embellished version of the insignia of the 32nd Intelligence Squadron. On the right side is a painting of a Lockheed F-80A. Above it is "32nd TAC Recon Sq". Below it is "Capt. William K. Mason".
The 32nd was transferred from Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base to Spangdahlem in May 1953. The F-80's were replaced with RF84Fs in 1955.
