Weihenstephan.
The Bavarian state-owned brewery Weihenstephan officially received the status of the first ancient brewery in the world in the 50s of the 20th century. Historians have managed to find documents in the archives stating that beer was brewed on the site of the Weihenstephan brewery in 1040. Before that, it was believed that the Weihenstephan brewery dates back to 1146.
After the 50s, all references to the founding date of the state-owned Weihenstephan brewery began to designate the year 1040. This means that the mug with the founding date of the Weihenstephan brewery in 1146 was made before 1950.
Nevertheless, there has been a discussion among independent historians about the alleged falsification of information about the date of 1040.

The Bavarian state-owned Weihenstephan brewery is located in Freising (a suburb of Munich). There she occupies, among others, the buildings of the monastery of St. Stephen, which gave its name to the urban area of Weienstephan. Until the 1950s, the brewery claimed its foundation in 1146, and later, without explanation, moved the date to 1040. Both of these dates are based on a single document that is considered a forgery of the first half of the 17th century. According to other documents, the existence of the brewery at this monastery can be traced back to 1675.

Other contenders for the title of the oldest brewery in the world include the producers of Bavarian beer Weltenburger.

The lid is made in the workshop of the tin craftsmen Joseph Reill / Peter Reill in Freising (Kaufhaus Zinnerne Kanne Paul Reill GmbH & Co. KG
Obere Hauptstraße 59, then Neulandstraße 10, Freising, Bavaria). The Reill workshop was most active between 1885 and 1895.
