Handle: SPG-94 per TBSL
Heavy open 3 ring hinge. Between c.1875-1895 was a period of transition from the closed hinge to open hinge, thumb lifts were also beginning to be moved over the hinge during this time. Heavy open 3 ring hinges were seen in use during this period.
"Reichs Zinn" mark on underside of lid. The "Reichs Zinn" mark came into use at the beginning of the German Empire c.1871. The mark was commonly used until c.1918, but can also be seen on later pewter
This mold variation includes the text:
"Long live the barley stalk, it raises courage and steels strength"
