Brauhaus Garmisch - Maßkrug
A Brief History of Brauhaus Garmisch:
Originally founded in 1663 under the patronage of Prince-Bishop Albrecht Sigismund of Freising, Brauhaus Garmisch served as a central brewing establishment in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for over three centuries. However, in the 1970s, the brewery ceased operations, and its facilities were closed.
After a hiatus of more than 50 years, the brewery experienced a renaissance. In 2018, local entrepreneurs Antonius Huber and Alexander Müller revitalized the Brauhaus Garmisch, constructing a new brewery near the original historic site. Their mission was to honor traditional Bavarian brewing methods while incorporating modern techniques, thereby re-establishing the brewery as a cherished institution in the region.
Side note: We have been to Garmisch-Partenkirchen many times; it’s a stunningly beautiful part of Germany. I loved snow skiing in the area during winters.
As always, I welcome and appreciate your feedback.
