King Gambrinus - King of Beer Masskrug

From the collection of Jorge O. Soriano

King Gambrinus - King of Beer

This is perhaps the most common portrayal of King Gambrinus, his robe about his shoulders, crown atop his head, stein hoisted in salute, and sitting astride a barrel of his favorite liquid!

Nice pewter lid with porcelain inlay. Words?? Notice the thumblift style.

I cannot make out the first letter of both words???

Closed hinge.

The Legend of Gambrinus. See link in description section.

Super clean and in fine condition inside & out!

Closed five (5) ring hinge.

All the potter’s turn lines clearly visible- lovely!

I’m trying to figure out what the two words are on the inlay, if anyone knows, I’d appreciate the translation and the spelling. I cannot make out the first letter of either word?? I struggle with the font style used in the 19th century, early 20th century.

REFERENCES.

SCI: Gambrinus, King of Beer.

Can anyone inform me what the two words are on the inlay, both spelling and meaning?? I’m unable to make out first letter of both words. I did some guessing, but I don’t think I for it.

The words on the ceramic inlay are: "Zur Erinnerung" (In remembrance).

Ah, thank you Paul. Old German style letters can be challenging for me. Ha ha. Thanks again!
