Blown yellow-green glass
Holds approximately 1 liter
Large foot ring and a band around the upper mid-portion, with diagonal bands in between. Ornate pewter handle, hinge, and thumb lift. The lid depicts a brewer holding a stein of similar design. The elaborate pewter work is attributed to the Josef Lichtinger & Cie. firm of Munich (1872/73 - c.1896).
The top band has the inscription: Herrn Dr. Kellermann Marth, followed by a zirkle.

The zirkle was identified as belonging to Corps Onoldia, which was founded May 28, 1798 at the University of Erlangen, now called Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. The motto for Corps Onoldia is "Eternity Sworn Oaths!”.

I was able to obtain information from the University and Corps Onoldia identifying the names inscribed on the stein.
Beginning January 1877, Dr. Christoph Kellermann (b.1851-d.1918) was a member of the faculty at the University of Erlangen as a Doctor of Philosophy.
Maximilian Wilhelm Marth (b.1869-d.1953) was a student of law at the University of Erlangen from October 1888 through the summer of 1890. Marth became a member of Corps Onoldia December 1889.
The use of Herrn (Mr.) and the academic title of Dr. could indicate the stein was a respectfully given gift from a student, Mr. Marth, to a faculty member, Dr. Kellermann.
