A half litre stein from Villeroy & Boch Mettlach, catalogue number 1379, named “Architect Stein”. Inlay lid has masonic symbol. Date 1884. Text on the stein:
“Ein ehrlich Kunst und gute Lehr gereichen dem deutschen Meister zur Ehr.”
(An honest art and good apprenticeship do honor to a German master.)
“Was der Meister im tiefen Denken erfand, errichtet ward es durch unsre Hand.”
(What the master invented with deep thought, it was created by our hands.)
“Und unser Herr Altmeister mit eigner Hand, der hat uns zu Gesellen ernannt.”
(And our old master with his own hand, named us journeymen.)
