Centralbahnhof Nurnburg Masskrug

From the collection of Chuck Huseman

This masskrug says "Centralbahnhof", which translates into "Central Station".

To this day, this is the main train station for the city of Nuremberg, as well as the largest in Northern Bavaria.

This mug dates to around the 1890's and probably came from the dining hall/restaurant at the station.

What's interesting about this mug, however, is the spelling.

As you can see, the word "Central" is present, which clearly isn't German....Instead this would have normally spelled out "Hauptbahnhof", which is the correct word in German for "Central Station".

An interesting anomaly, to say the least....
