Mold blown glass with applied handle and pedestal. Mold blown technique developed c.1840 and commonly used until c.1870's/1880's, when the pressed glass technique became the preferred method.
Stone wheel cut/polished facets and arches. Copper wheel cut accents between arches.

Heavy ornate lid and rampant lion with shield thumb lift.
Pewter is marked "L.B.C.M." for L. Bauernfreund & Cie. München, a pewterer and decorating firm in Munich. The company was registered c.1883 and deregistered c.1911.

The stein is personalized and dated 9/12.1890
