Cold War Stein

From the collection of Randy Satterfield

The front of the stein is named to Jock P. Patterson. It has the German coat of arems with the date underneath, Jul 77 - Apr 80. The left sid has the insignia of theU.S. Air Forces in Europe. The right side has an insignia I haven't been able to locate. It shows a pen crossed over a sword over a background of a nuclear cloud. At top it has in latn "Penna quam gladium fortloris" which tranlates to "The pen is mightier than the sword". Below is USAFE DOX. Apparantly this refers sto a journalistic function in the USAFE.
